No getDocuments function

There is no exported getDocuments as shown on the documentation or your dev.to post. Could you please add it?

Hi, the getDocuments function is currently only available in the server abstractions. In a React app you'd want to use useCollection instead I think.

But possibly I overlooked a perfectly valid use-case. I just haven't needed it myself on the client side.

Maybe you can explain a bit more about your use-case?

The dev.to article is mostly showing server code examples. The select statement is also not available in the Firestore SDK for web/react-native

The use case was to use it with react-query.

Btw, is there a caching system with your library? If I run the same query in an other file a few seconds after, is it run twice?

I was expecting you to want to use with ReactQuery... I think I will add it to the library and strip the logic related to batching (the max is 1k or 2k documents and you wouldn't want to fetch more in a client-side app anyway)

I've always used the hooks for collections and I don't think they use a shared cache other than what the firebase SDK provides. If you unmount the hook (with listener) and mount it again a few seconds later, it will have to make a new query but it might still use stale-while-revalidate type of approach with the firebase internal cache, I don't know.

That part is from react-firebase-hooks.

Also, do realize that you are opting out of the Firestore subscriptions / real-time updates when you are using ReactQuery? You do get that with useCollection.
