Privacy Policy for Kagi FastGPT Sidebar

Overview

This privacy policy explains how our extension handles your data when you use our browser extension.

Data Collection and Usage

Data We Access

  • Current webpage content: When you ask questions about a webpage, the extension reads the visible text content to provide context to the Kagi FastGPT API
  • User queries: The questions and messages you send through the sidebar are transmitted to Kagi's FastGPT API for processing

Data We Store Locally

  • Kagi API Key: Your API key is stored securely in your browser's local storage and never transmitted to any party other than Kagi's official API endpoints
  • Extension preferences: Basic settings like sidebar visibility state are stored locally in your browser

Data We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information
  • We do not track your browsing history
  • We do not store your conversations or queries
  • We do not use analytics or tracking tools
  • We do not share any data with third parties (except Kagi as described below)

Third-Party Services

Kagi FastGPT API

  • This extension uses Kagi's FastGPT API to provide AI-powered responses
  • Your queries and webpage content are sent to Kagi's servers for processing
  • Kagi's privacy policy applies to how they handle this data: https://kagi.com/privacy
  • We recommend reviewing Kagi's privacy policy to understand how they process your data

Data Security

  • Your API key is stored using your browser's secure storage mechanisms
  • All communications with the Kagi API use HTTPS encryption
  • We implement security best practices in our code

Permissions Explained

Our extension requests the following permissions:

  • Active Tab: To read the current webpage content when you ask questions about the page
  • Storage: To securely store your API key and extension preferences locally
  • Scripting: To inject the sidebar interface into webpages
  • Host Permission (kagi.com): To communicate with Kagi's FastGPT API

Your Rights

  • You can delete your stored API key at any time through the extension interface
  • You can uninstall the extension to remove all locally stored data
  • You have full control over when and how the extension is used
