Collections in Edge Functions?

I'd like to use collections on dynamic pages, but I'm having some trouble. I first tried to use them on Serverless pages, but the collections were incomplete, and I was advised to use Edge functions instead in #2437. The other related issue is #2268.

With Edge functions, I'm seeing that collections.all is undefined inside of the {% edge "liquid" %} blocks. The changes I used to test are here, using 2.0.0-canary.8:

I don't quite have an answer to this yet, but I have a bit more info to share in case anyone else is trying to figure this out as well. According to this thread on Twitter:

• The Edge shortcodes are data-scoped so the desired data would need to be passed in as shown here in the docs.
• The collections objects contain circular references, however, so they'd need to be cleaned up (perhaps using Array.map) to something JSON-friendly before being passed in.
• Alternatively, the collections could be processed at build time and then passed to the Edge function. I tried to do this with Computed Data, but couldn't figure out how to work with a list of my site's pages using Javascript in a data file, because collections aren't accessible there. Someone on Discord helpfully suggested I use the fs package to pull in the markdown files myself, but I'd also need to implement a parser for them to read their frontmatter. This seemed like a lot of hassle, so I'm going to move on and possibly revisit this later.
