Is Matterbridge no longer maintained?

Seems @42wim haven't been active on github since September last year. Matterbridge has not seen an upgraded release since 2023.

I hope the maintainer is well, happy and simply moved on to other things. Meanwhile, i will be gradually be decommissioning the implementation i have in place.

It was fun while it lasted! Many thanks for breaking silos and making the internet more open! 🍻

No idea, but I had the same concerns and did a (very shallow) look through some of the forks.
I found that 'kolsys' fork - while not the most recently updated, and actually 1 commit behind - has a fork by 'technoblade' that - while also not the most recently updated - was updated within last month and in the way which mattered most to me (synced to be no commits behind, and made modern slack apps work, while otherwise not having so many commits I couldn't tell if it broke other stuff at a quick glance).

I would honestly love it if someone made a more thorough comparison of the various forks, and if one was declared as actively maintained to aggregate people's efforts/focus to it, but what I mentioned above sufficed for me (after I forked it myself to quickly fix 2/3 bugs - that I should prolly PR upstream at least 1 step) and I hope it [this info] might be helpful to someone else too.

Alternatively, if you find any other solution that works equally well, or better, I would love to know about it too! :) Though would really need to be easy to migrate, as I finally managed to get this software setup in a satisfactory manner just today, and really want to let it phase out-of-mind by now :p

This is a recurring issue. The creator has already talked about this and that he is busy, he updates from time to time, I think it is every year.
I don't know why more Collaborators are not added so that they can accept the Pulls. The Whatsmeow version always needs to be updated to avoid bans among other types of failures.

I'm going to start maintaining a fork of matterbridge to accept and merge pull requests regarding irc -> matrix -> discord since our organization needs this bridge to work. if @42wim ever returns I can then make a big pull request back, or just keep accepting pull requests indefinitely.

However, I can only test irc -> matrix -> discord so will need more people to help provide pull requests proven to fix the whatsapp and telegram issues. If anyone else is able to help test whatsapp and telegram please provide tested pull requests.

Right now we are off topic, it's possible too, because I know a person who was born in 1933 and is still doing well with computers. He is one of the guys that was doing the layout of one of first Nixdorf computer mainboards ...

I have started a new org and a meta repo for community issues: https://github.com/matterbridge-org/community/issues

The idea would be to have more contributors/maintainers step in to make it a real community-maintained project. I'd like to thank @42wim for maintaining matterbridge all these years it's been really useful to me and i value deeply their contribution. This new organization is in no way a personal attack against the current maintainer, but rather an attempt to unburden them and breathe new life into the project. (if they'd like, i believe they could be given admin rights to the new org)

Some directions to be studied for the future community fork:

• reducing tech debt and running the linter on the entire codebase systematically (see meta: Update CI and follow linter suggestions bibanon/matterbridge#21)
• improving the README / wiki to make it more beginner-friendly
• setting up proper integration tests with org-wide community accounts on different networks
• setting up a website

I didn't make a matterbridge fork on that org yet because i'd like first that we agree on some basic principles and give maintainership to different people to ensure continuity and initial governance. For now, @poVoq and i are admins of the org (this was not a request by povoq, rather an initiative from me). Applications for maintainership of specific aspects are open here: matterbridge-org/community#1
