So it appeares that with HOTR and OpenFIRE the serial recoil functionality is affected by the lightgun's rapid fire settings. I've got OpenFIRE working as good as Gun4ir does with HOTR with theses App/Lightgun settings.

These are the settings changes made, to each lightgun, with the OpenFIRE App.

Enable Autofire.
Set Solenoid Interval to 20ms.
Set Solenoid Hold Strength to 600ms.
Set Autofire Wait Factor to 2x.
As with most adjustments your results could be better or worse, however these settings appear to be a very good baseline.
