Need help identifying device model and resetting firmware (XIAOZHI)

I recently bought this XIAOZHI device from AliExpress:

I found something strange — after connecting it to Wi-Fi, it started working immediately without me linking it to my account on the xiaozhi.me website.

From what I understand, it should be necessary to connect it to my personal account first, but that didn’t happen.

So I’d like to know:

How can I reset the device to factory settings?

Is there a firmware update available for this model?

There are many firmware versions shared here, but I’m not sure which one matches my device.

If there’s any firmware version with a different interface, I’d love to try it as well.

You can read the serial log to identify the device.

1. With ESP-IDF toolset: # idf.py mointor
2. With any serial debug tool

Once you have the log, look for some output strings like application version or board type.

I was able to read the serial log, and here’s what I found:
Board: AiKoder S3 LCD
Chip: ESP32-S3 (rev v0.2)
Display: JD9853
Audio Codec: ES8311
Firmware Base: ESP-IDF v5.4.1
SSID on boot: Xiaozhi-3EF5

Apparently this is not an open-source device and you have to ask the seller for the firmware if you want to make use of the SD card.

Actually, I don’t mind using the microSD reader.
In fact, the device’s case doesn’t even have an opening for the reader.
Is there any compatible firmware, even if the microSD reader becomes unusable?

Probably the seller will never provide me the firmware, but I managed to download the firmware .BIN.
Do you think it could be useful for anything?

You cannot find or make a compatible firmware if you don't have a schematic.

How to obtain the Device ID and MAC Address?

[Device ID] If your device is working properly, you can try talking to it and asking it to tell you the Device ID.

[MAC Address] You need to download a serial port tool (or terminal emulator) and read the serial port information to find the MAC address-related details.

I discovered the device has been bound by someone else, and I cannot contact that person. How can I unbind the device?

This situation usually occurs when your development kit or chip module was previously bound to another account and was not unbound on the xiaozhi.me website after being returned or recycled. You can also unbind the device by sending an email. Send an email to [email protected].

The email subject should be: [Unbind Device, Device ID XXX, MAC Address XXX]

They unlinked my device.
Before that, I had sent the same request to the store, and they replied with the message below — I was very disappointed.
