Is pitch control, i.e. changing the playback speed and the playback pitch also changing like speeding up or slowing down a record, possible in copyparty's media player? If it is possible, how fine grained can those adjustments be? I genuinely enjoy having pitch control in my media players, blame Cowon.
And of course the next step to this is, if you have pitch control and you already have optional key detection, you've got the beginnings of DJ software. I think asking for stuff like separate main plus cue audio outputs and high quality pitch lock might be a bit too much, but pitch control, cue points, and very granular seeking is all you really need for quick and dirty mix testing. :)
And if you think it's a very stupid idea, I've sometimes found myself bored and messing around trying to beatmatch two MPV windows before. Maybe I should see if I can set up cue functionality in the config file...

Consider this a "haha just kidding unless" idea.
