Hello, thank you for this utility first of all. Just wondering if there are any logs you can view when this tool updates the port on qbit? If we dont have them, can we include some logging please? Thanks

That's a good suggestion. I think right now it's very rudimentary, unhelpful stdout logs that aren't visible when run as a service, so I will convert it to use Nlog or something so the logs can be written to a text file or other configurable destination.

Here is a build that logs messages to %LOCALAPPDATA%\PortForwardingService\logs\PortForwardingService.log by default. The filename, content format, and other options can be configured by editing NLog.config in the installation directory.

Awesome! To update, do i just stop service, replace old exe with new and restart service?

Yes, correct. You will also want to extract (and overwrite) all other files from the ZIP, especially NLog.dll and NLog.config which are new.

Working very well with logs now, thanks. Just confirming, this tool with automatically update QBit's port if pia decides to change it? Even when qbittorrent is already open in the background?

Yes, whenever the PIA forwarded port changes, this program will update the qBittorrent listening port to that new value, regardless of whether or not qBittorrent is running at the time. It accomplishes this by editing the config file if qBittorrent isn't running (so the change will take effect the next time you launch qBittorrent), or calling the HTTP API if it is running (so the change will take effect immediately).
