As of macOS 26 Tahoe, icons that aren't remade through Apple's Icon Composer to conform to the new OS guidelines are placed in "squircle jail", meaning they get shrunken down to fit the rounded rect shape that icons are expected to use now. Circular, rectangular and irregularly shaped icons are not allowed, though any of those shapes could be placed inside a rounded rect supplied by Icon Composer and they would avoid this punishment by the OS. As things stand now, the result is that the Aleph One and Marathon icons are placed against a gray background and appear smaller than they did before. The resulting appearance is not terrible...
...but Mac users will recognize the squircle of shame with the generic gray background.
It will only take a few minutes to run the source image for each icon through Icon Composer and generate conformant new icons.
Separately from that, the current icons are not all the same size. Here's Marathon 2 next to the Aleph One app:
This disparity was the case before the squircle jail was ever applied. So hopefully that issue can be corrected at the same time.
