custom sliders

I recently made my own custom brightness module (default lowest hardware brightness was still too bright for me, so now I use software and hardware brightness)
but before I made this module, I was using the backlight/slider module. and unless I put a lot of effort into making a custom module with a slider, I can't use one anymore :(
so I'm wondering if we'll get the ability to make and use custom sliders in the future.
