HomeKit notifications stopped working

HomeKit doorbell notifications stopped working for me with newer versions of go2rtc.

I could see that in v1.9.10 there were some HomeKit related changes, so I took a wild guess and downgraded to the version before.

And in fact, the downgrade to v1.9.9 helped and notifications started working again 🎉

I'm happy to help debug the issue or test possible fixes 🤝

I didn't observe any errors in the logs when pressing the doorbell in the latest version (v1.9.11), but notifications don't come through. However, the button press events are correctly recorded in Home Assistant.

My Setup:

• Aqara G4
• Home Assistant Add-on
• HomeKit transparent proxy
• iOS 18

I can also reproduce this. v1.9.10 fixed the homekit support in iOS26 (for RTSP cameras) but broke the doorbell notifications 😞

What are notifications? How can I replicate them on my device?

@AlexxIT doorbell notifications are happening when someone ring the doorbell. a notification with a snapshot should come to all Apple devices. looks like this:

these worked prior to v1.9.10 and work if the homekit doorbell is directly connected to the homekit system but not when proxied via go2rtc

For me, reverting to 1.9.9 helped restore the Aqara G4 Doorbell stream to HomeKit (26, 26.1) that stopped working after the September updates. It worked flowlessly for a long time. Along with doorbell ring notifications.

i'm also using the exact same Aqara G4 Doorbell but i cannot downgrade because v1.9.10 fixed RTSP cameras (a chinese one) in iOS26. so i either have the doorbell working or the chinese camera (which monitors a 3d printer) 😞

You can use two different versions simultaniously. But it's better to use docker for this, so they can use different configs.

I'm busy this week, so I won't be able to fix it quickly. But right now I'm working on improving HomeKit stability, including HKSV.
