This document documents all missing edge cases and validation test scenarios for the CreateStreamModal component to support issue #1113.

Overview

This document builds on existing test coverage in src/components/tests/CreateStreamModal*.ts* to identify and plan implementation of edge cases for stream creation modal validation.

Existing Test Coverage

Currently Tested Areas

  1. Dates & Cross-field Validation (dates.test.tsx:135-262)

    • Cliff-before-end validation
    • Custom start date validation
    • Cliff and start date ordering
    • Date format and timezone handling
  2. Recipient Validation (recipient.test.tsx:1-149)

    • Self-send validation (exact match)
    • Self-send validation (case insensitive)
    • Self-send validation (whitespace insensitive)
    • Disconnected wallet bypass
  3. Bounds Validation (bounds.test.tsx:31-86)

    • Upper bounds on accrual rate and duration
    • Precise boundary handling at MAX_ACCRUAL_RATE and MAX_DURATION_DAYS
    • Error messaging for out-of-bounds values
  4. Property-Based Testing (property.test.tsx:27-103)

    • Field-level validation updates on touch
    • Untouched fields show no validation state
    • Validation state persistence during mode switching
  5. Stepper Navigation (stepper.test.tsx:46-144)

    • Step navigation with progress tracking
    • Keyboard accessibility for stepper
    • Disabled states during submission

Test Implementation Priority

High Priority (Critical for Modal Functionality)

  1. Loading state edge cases (4 tests)
  2. Empty states edge cases (3 tests)
  3. Keyboard navigation (3 tests)
  4. Error state edge cases (2 tests)

Medium Priority (UX/Accessibility)

  1. Responsive behavior (3 tests)

Implementation Details

For each test case, ensure:

  1. Mock Wallet Context: Properly mock useWallet() hook
  2. Toast Provider: Wrap components with ToastProvider
  3. Async Handling: Handle promises and async effects
  4. Event Simulation: Use fireEvent for realistic interactions
  5. Cleanup: Clean up afterEach test
  6. Viewport Testing: Use Vi's mock/hack for viewport simulations

Code Coverage Targets

Run the test suite to achieve minimum coverage:

Target coverage areas (based on missing test plan):

  • Loading state coverage: 80%
  • Empty state coverage: 90%
  • Keyboard navigation coverage: 70%
  • Error state coverage: 85%
  • Responsive behavior coverage: 60%

Estimated Test Count

Total new tests required: 17 tests across 5 test files

  • Loading.test.tsx: 4 tests
  • EmptyStates.test.tsx: 3 tests
  • Keyboard.test.tsx: 3 tests
  • Responsive.test.tsx: 3 tests
  • ErrorStates.test.tsx: 2 tests
  • Plus supporting utility files (setup.ts, testUtils.ts)

Conclusion

This test plan documents all missing edge cases for CreateStreamModal validation, providing a comprehensive testing strategy that addresses issue #1113 concerns.

All tests will be backward compatible and focus on ensuring explicit behavior documentation and regression safety.
