I share your opinion; on my server I have sparse structures and no structure overlap installed. |

Overlaping Mods

Reason to be added
You’re highly likely to have experienced it before — that early-game excitement of searching for your first village or point of interest, only to be disappointed when it turns out half-destroyed by another structure spawning on top of it. Or perhaps you’ve come across multiple waystones clustered together unnaturally close.
It seems that some of the included mods may have forgotten to assign proper structure salts, which unfortunately leads to these overlapping issues.
After spending quite a bit of time playing ATM10, I’ve noticed this happening fairly often. A large number of POIs end up broken or partially merged due to multiple structures generating in the same area.
I think that, with this mod added to the ATM10 modpack, it could really improve world generation and the overall exploration experience.
Pros of Using Sparse Structures Mod
1. Prevents Overlapping POIs
Sparse Structures reduces the chance of multiple structures (like villages, dungeons, or custom POIs) spawning too close to one another.
This helps eliminate broken or half-merged buildings — a common issue in heavily modded packs.
2. Improves World Generation Stability
By enforcing greater spacing between structures, the mod reduces the strain during world generation.
This can lead to fewer lag spikes or worldgen crashes, especially on servers or low-end systems.
3. Creates More Natural Exploration
With more space between major structures, biomes feel larger and more immersive.
You get that classic exploration feel — discovering landmarks naturally instead of tripping over multiple POIs every few hundred blocks.
4. Maintains Vanilla-Like Structure Distribution
Sparse Structures respects vanilla structure spacing rules while applying smarter distribution to modded structures.
This means it keeps the world balanced and consistent rather than making it feel empty.
5. Compatible with Most Mods
The mod works by adjusting structure separation settings rather than modifying structure files directly.
That makes it generally compatible with most worldgen mods — including Terralith, When Dungeons Arise, Towns and Towers, and YUNG’s series — as long as those mods don’t use hard-coded spacing rules.
6. Customizable Spacing Rules
Server owners and pack developers can fine-tune structure spacing in the config.
This allows adjusting spawn density globally or for specific modded structures if desired, giving full control over how “sparse” the world feels.
7. Reduces Waystone Clustering
Since the mod ensures more distance between POIs, you’ll see far fewer cases of multiple waystones appearing next to each other — fixing one of the more common annoyances in large modpacks.
Thanks for considering this! I believe this adjustment could make exploration and early progression much smoother and more enjoyable for everyone.
