It is now a day after successfully configuring Allsky to push files to my Synology NAS hosting the Allsky Website; Allsky Website ![v2023-05-01] There are errors being posted, in the index.php page... in the keogram page... Here are my changes in the Edit page that work for ftp-settings.sh. The RPi 4 is not fast enough to push these files without causing errors. I had to increase the "Delay" times to 5 seconds but this still may not be enough delay; time will tell............... |

Just a suggestion: rename "web" to "allsky". That's how we document it, so it'll be less confusing if you need help in the future. data.json message Unable to make thumbnails Delay ftp-settings.sh Is your NAS Website on the Internet? |

@jsalsburg, postData.sh thinks you only have a local Website, so it's copying the files there. This will likely produce a lot of output, but please attach it to your reply. It will tell me why postData.sh doesn't know about your remote Website (i.e., the NAS). |

Please do the following:
cd ~/allsky
ls -l config/remote_configuration.json

source variables.sh

After running this script, remote_configuration.json appeared in the
WebUI's Editor Page pulldown menu. The Warning Banner in the NAS web page
went away.
I do not yet have my router 'port forwarding' set for the Remote Web Site.
Will attempt to configure the router for this ASAP. Thank you.

Turned on 'Port Forwarding' for my NAS and it appears to be working. I am a
little confused about adding the '/web' to the Edit Page entry.

Something unwanted just happened. For the past few hours I have been uploading files to my Synology NAS which is hosting the web server for AllSky. This appears to have stopped the RPi from pushing image files to the server. I had to reboot the RPi to get it to recover from this unwanted situation. This tells me I need to create a web server with nothing else to do. |

@jsalsburg, any idea WHY it stopped the RPi from uploading files? Is there a limit on number of simultaneous uploads? Eric |

I believe the problem is caused by bandwidth, or rather the lack thereof.
The workstation pushing large files to my Synology is connected by ethernet
to the Synology, whereas the RPi is by WiFi.

I can understand why it would slow down RPi uploads, but don't know why it
would stop them.

@jsalsburg, Rebooting the Pi is almost never needed. Have you tried simply restarting Allsky instead? |

Thanks for the log file. For whatever reason, an upload is waiting forever for something, and all future uploads then fail. Also, the log shows that some of your files in ~/allsky/config/modules are either corrupt, empty, or missing. |

Hello. Sorry I did not respond sooner. I had to wait several days to determine if the problem is reoccurring, and it is reoccurring. AllSky stops capturing; after reboot, AllSky continues capturing. [all] dtoverlay=imx519 |

Hello
I ran grep ERROR /var/log/allsky.log*
There were hundreds of errors. Some were generated when I first installed
the new RPi and was configuring Allsky. But several days later there was a
stream of errors where the Bridge was obviously not in contact with the
Synology. I wrote in the past about my situation, there are more than 64
Access points (I suspect more than 100) within range and I am sure many
more that do not show in a network scan because it is limited to 64 in
number. I am sure I am experiencing WiFi issues.
This morning, for instance, the RPi stopped updating the image.jpg file to
the Synology. After rebooting the RPi continued the update or copy to the
Synology.
Something to note. If I view the Synology Web folder from my personal
workstation, SaveImage-xxxxx is generated before the next image.jpg
appears. I noticed these SaveImage-xxxxx files pile up, I suspect, when the
connection to the Synology is broken. I can see that the connection is
flaky by how long it takes for the SaveImage-xxxxx to complete by watching
its size value, then deleted, then post the new image.jpg file. I
surmise that the WiFi is not reliable because this update or copy time
varies. It should happen in less than a second but it takes many seconds
sometimes.

Would you please run

and let me know what you get for the time when the copy wasn't working? I
may want to better notify users of copy problems.
Thanks

You can delete old SaveImage-xxxxx files. They can get left on the Website if there is an upload issue. Some day I will have to change the code to delete any old files it finds. |

Hello
The image.jpg files stopped updating after only a few hours after
rebooting the RPi. As a test, I restarted the Synology instead, the
image.jpg files commenced updating again. This is not good. I suspect the
problem is not with Allsky, it is something else, like Wifi, or network
problems.
I will investigate further but this may take a few days.
I may create a separate Web Server, not the Synology; my old RPi4 may work.

I have a Synology NAS. It has been operating reliably for years. It has FTP and a Web server. In addition, I subscribe to NOIP for DDNS. I want to be able to host the Allsky Website in my Synology NAS and make it available to the Public with my DDNS account. Please share your ideas; instruct me how to do this?
