Changing Order

I have changed the order of timelapse videos etc. in the camera WebUI > allsky settings > WebUI configuration to descending and saved it.

Unfortunately this change is not reflected on the Website itself:

Did I miss something?

The Website has its own setting for sorting. Look in the associated configuration.json file for a setting with sort in its name - I forget the exact name.

Think of the WebUI and an Allsky Website as two different things with their own settings.

Is it not sorting correctly when you set it to descending? You may need to force a browser refresh via SHIFT-F5.

Changing from ascending to descending in the configuration.json of the website did it.
Maybe I can suggest to change the default value to descending. It's what happened recently what might interest mostly.

I prefer not changing the default behavior of existing functionality if there is an easy alternative, like a setting.
You may prefer descending but I don't know about the other 500 people.

I've considered having Allsky pop up tips like "did you know you can sort...", but I don't want Allsky to be annoying.

In the next major release we plan to ask users if it's ok to upload their information (in a private way) so we can determine, e.g., how many people sort ascending versus descending. I'm hoping that information will give us a better understanding of where to spend our limited development time.

So - in the meantime - whenever I update the remote website I have to change the sort order back from ascending to descending?

Assuming you "upgrade" Allsky rather than remove the old version and install a new version, ALL the prior Allsky and Allsky Website settings are maintained. A copy of the configuration.json file on the remote Website is kept on the Pi, and whenever you update it, a copy is uploaded to the Website.
