First day of the month KEOGRAM

Would be interesting to save a Keogram from the first day of each month. Possibly stack these vertically so you can see how things change from one month to another.

Something similar:
Someone requested the ability to do a yearly keogram using one column from each day's keogram.
For that and your request a place to store the keograms. Setting up a local Website and "uploading" the keograms would work as long as the "Days To Keep" was at least 365, and that's possible now.

Creating an "allsky/images/keogram" directory would be more logical and then a "script" module that's run at the night-to-day transition that copies that day's keogram to that directory could be run.

Either place, a script is needed to create the final result.

I can think of a few ways to save either 365 days worth, or just the first of the month. Just not sure how to vertically stack them. I think 365 days while interesting, would be over kill for thee result. Need to go study up on python date/time statements.

Would you be willing to do me a favor? Another user wrote a "keolapse" module that puts a circular keogram around a timelapse.
indi allsky has this and I've been testing /changing it with the intent of including it in Allsky. Could you install it and play with it and provide feedback?

To do so, unzip the attached file at the bottom of this thread. It'll create a allsky_keolapse directory with the module and a README file.
If you already have an allsky-modules directory somewhere that contains the code for a bunch of modules, move the allsky_keolapse directory there, then run the allsky-modules/install.sh script to install the keolapse module.
Then in the WebUI's Module Manager, go to the Periodic flow and you should see this:

(it's also in the "Night to Day Transition" flow). Move it to the "Selected Modules" column and enable it.

Here are the settings I changed:

 

For this, pick any date you want:

Open another terminal window and run:

cd ~/allsky/tmp/logs
tail -f keolapse_debug.log

After you see a line like:

2025-07-14 03:46:49.219 - [INFO] Video creation completed in 2.7 minutes, start=...

the keolapse should be in ~/allsky/images/20250712/keolapse (or whatever date you used).
Here's what mine looks like:

It's hard to see the keogram circle because this is a test Pi in a bedroom and the keogram looks terrible.
I haven't played around with any of the settings on the modules "Image" tab.

Sure, I’ll give that “keolapse” a look in the next days/week or so it looks cool.

the module I was working on is actually to email the nightly images at end-of-night. You can see it in PR in allsky-modules repo or in forked branch.
No real astronomical advantage to stacking them like that I guess, but my kids like seeing when it was cloudy or not when looking at the star trails, so we dreamed it up while I was figuring out the email thing (eg we saw on mobile device that it would show the keogram below the startrails on screen and the two things clicked together for them….so it became a “hey can we just combine them into one” (We get a fair bit of passing clouds, unfortunately)

@EricClaeys - managed to test the "keolapse". It's a neat output. Not sure I quite have it dialed in and it's a little finicky to setup, but i got a lo-res result that might be more interesting than out your window (plus a southern-pole look) https://allskywelly.great-site.net/allsky/videos/keolapse-20250716.mp4

I have a couple initial ideas on how it might be more user-friendly, but need to think about it and play with it a little before committing any ideas... do you want to move this to a different thread?
