Allsky RPI running during the night only #4835

Allsky itself has no mechanism to turn a Pi off automatically, but you could add a script to the Night-To-Day module flow that waited for the timelapse to finish, then stopped Allsky, then shut down the Pi. Even if you found a way to make that work, I suggest trying to fix the problem causing the Pi to shut itself down. I never heard of a Pi overheating to the point that it shuts down. Normally, it throttles the CPU down. Does the Pi have a CPU fan, and if so, is it working? If not, can you add one? Or add a fan to the enclosure? Does the Pi have a heatsink, and is it covered in dust? If you turn off capturing images during the day, Allsky will effectively sleep during the day and take no CPU time. That would be an easy thing to try, and you can still access the WebUI to check on the temperature. |

@WirthmU - I cant speak for the temperature issue, but if you need the power off/on, one possibility for scheduling physical on/off is WittyPi. This is a hat that you can add which can manage power off and on via a schedule. They have several models, so you would need to research if this is something that you would be interested in trying. |

Since with summer it's getting really hot even here in Switzerland. Therefore my RPI shuts itself down to prevent CPU overheating.
Would it be possible to have with Allsky the option to run it only during the night. So the RPI would shut down itself at sunrise and boot again and running Allsky at sunset?
