ZWO ASI676MM on Raspberry 4B

[OGVT]

Hi,

I'm trying to install Allsky with a ZWO ASI676MM on Raspberry 4B. Unfortunately without success.

The camera gets always lost during installation process. I tried different Raspberries and different USB Cables. No success.

lsusb recognizes the cam

connected_cameras.txt shows

Any idea what I could do?

Please run lsusb -d 03c3: --verbose > /tmp/lsusb.txt and attach the /tmp/lsusb.txt file.
Also, please attach ~/allsky/config/logs/makeChanges.log.

Is this the only camera you have attached to the Pi?

It's possible it's a problem with the camera, but more likely it's an Allsky bug.
Do you have a Windows PC you can connect it to?

# Copy the attached file here
chmod 755 install.sh
./install.sh   # tell it to continue where it left off.  This will also fail but will give me more info.

Then attach the updated ~/allsky/config/logs/install.log.

Once you get a valid image with the 178, please try this:

cd
sudo systemctl stop allsky
cp -r allsky allsky-178
# Disconnect the 178 and reconnect the 676
# Put the new "makeChanges.sh" file in allsky/scripts, per instructions above
./install.sh

Attach ~/allsky/config/logs/install.log and /tmp/ALLSKY_CC_FILE.

Something strange is going on and I haven't figured it out.

In the allsky for the 676, please run cd ~/allsky; grep ALLSKY_CC_FILE variables.sh
The "ALLSKY_CC_FILE.txt" file shows that the "ALLSKY_CC_FILE" variable isn't being set, which is very strange since it's set in variables.sh.

And use this file please when re-running the installation with the 676.

I suggest upgrading to the latest test version of Allsky. It has a newer version of ZWO's drivers which may fix the problem (that the ZWO driver can't open the camera).
To do so:

cd
mv allsky-OLD allsky-OLDER
sudo systemctl stop allsky
mv allsky allsky-OLD
git clone --depth=1 --recursive --branch v2025.xx.xx https://github.com/AllskyTeam/allsky.git
cd allsky
./install.sh

No need for the ALLSKY_CC_FILE.txt file - that bug's been fixed.

I'm at a loss and will need to check with ZWO. In the last line of allsky.log it has the ASI_ERROR_CAMERA_REMOVED error code, which is from ZWO's driver. It basically means it can't open the camera.

I've asked @Alex-developer if he has your camera on Trixie so he can test it.

In the meantime, replace the 676 with the 178 and continue with the installation using v2025.xx.xx.
After a day or so if things are working you can cd; rm -fr allsky-OLDER.

Something else to try here

Check power on the Pi - if it's borderline, the USB cable may not provide enough power to the camera.

Try a different colored port on the Pi.

It's already the second Pi I use. I can try an thrid one
Interestingly, the same camera works without any problems on this Raspberry Pi when used with different AllSky software.

I assume you tried the camera with indi-allsky?
I asked Aaron if he had any ideas, and they were the same as what I have said before.

But I really like your clean, organized interface, so I ordered two Pi5s and will try again tomorrow, this time with the Pi5.
