New RPi5 / ASI676 install

Hi, total newby.
Following error messages when started:
ERROR: Unable to locate an overlay file: TOD DAY, overlay ""   (6 occurrences, last on May 08, 1:45:16 pm BST)
ERROR: Config File '/home/len2650/allsky/config/overlay/config/overlay.json' not accessible.   (6 occurrences, last on May 08, 1:45:16 pm BST)

Would you please go to the "Getting Support" WebUI page and create a support log, then upload the log to GitHub?

Hi, I couldn't get the automated method to do anything so this is a manual download log.

Can you help?

His settings.json file has:

    "daytimeoverlay": "overlay1-ZWO_generic-3552x3552-both.json",
    "nighttimeoverlay": "overlay1-ZWO_generic-3552x3552-both.json",

and that file exists in allsky/config/overlay/myTemplates.

When you say the "automated method" for the support log, are you referring to the "Getting Support" WebUI page? If so, when you tried it, what happened?

@Alex-developer, I opened the discussion before I followed the ""Getting Support" WebUI page and create a support log" then I realised my error and I then created the above log by following the instructions. Then using the pussy cat with hand up icon button I tried to link it to 5157 to attach it to this discussion. Nothing seemed to happen so I manually downloaded and uploaded the file.

Following on to your comment re: the json's, is this good or bad? I tried uploading various modules and although they have appeared in the module manager the settings buttons are pale blue as though greyed out and I am unable to activate any of their settings.

This is very strange. The problem appears to be the code cannot read the setting.

The code does the following

1. Determines if its day or night
2. Reads the appropriate setting
3. Checks the overlay file exists
4. If the file doesnt exist it displays that error

The odd thing is that it has determined if its day or night since its displaying TOD DAY. The problem is the "". That should be the name of the overlay file from settings.json which means its not able to read the settings file.

The permissions all appear to be ok, bit stuck on this one at the moment

Alex and I talked about this and can't figure out why it can't locate an overlay file. We'd like you to upgrade to the latest Allsky which is in test mode but is pretty stable. We've made a lot of changes in it, and hopefully it'll fix your problem.

To upgrade:

cd
sudo systemctl stop allsky
mv allsky allsky-OLD
git clone --depth=1 --recursive --branch v2025.xx.xx https://github.com/AllskyTeam/allsky.git
cd allsky
./install.sh

Make sure you tell the installation to use the prior allsky (in allsky-OLD).
