Premium release popup

I just got this random popup today, you can seriously just gtfo with this bs. Don't become like other extensions and beg for money. You want money? Get a job. I've used this for a few years now and never had any popup like this, why start now? Keep that shit on the extension menu, don't shove it in every user's face. If anything, you'll end up with less support when doing scummy shit like this. And gtfo with that premium insight snapshot on the side of the video. I understand you have an option to disable it, but it should not be enabled by default... If an extension gives you popups and clutter your browsing experience, it's a shitty extension.

Apologies for the popup, it was intended to be shown on browser restart, i.e. be less intrusive.

The trigger for adding paid features was the fact that the amount of donations became smaller than the price of hosting (~600$ monthly expenses at the moment, about 400$ donations before the paid feature introduction).

So the paid features are supposed to, among other things, pay for the extension data hosting.

Unfortunately I thought that 2AM is a perfect time to push to chrome store, and that I definitely tested and thought about everything.

Regardless, this was the last popup you'll ever see from this extension.

I left a negative review in the Chrome web store and came here to see what was up. What a way to ruin your reputation, devs. Your extension is now hot garbage and you're now no different then the corporation that removed the dislikes in the first place. I've removed your extension from all of my browsers.

I've always hated how extensions are above adblockers and settings.

I've swapped in page ads for in browser pop up ads like back in the 90s. Tracking by opening changelogs, begging, nuisance, every bad habit from the before adblock era has come back as addon dev bait. It's becoming rare than an addon isn't doing this.

Soon, the app store syndrome will take hold here too, where an app that displays time has 40 ads.

Yes:

• I paid for DeArrow, and gladly.
• I would pay for RYD too, gladly.

No:

• I don't like subscriptions, they are meant to be forgotten about. There's people on Patreon making 1k a month after retiring 6 years ago. There's another reason I stopped using it, among others, they have cost creep. And terrible dark patterns. And reward not delivering.
• I don't like pop-up ads. My business isn't going well, I'm not plastering ads on your browser for it, am I? Stop treating my good will like a resource. I'm getting real tired of this. I have screens screaming ads at me when I pump gas. Ads in a cab, bus, street, phone. Enough.
• Abusing the changelog and extension privileges to bypass adblocking and user preferences is a bad sign when it comes to professionalism. You just added yourself to a roster of people nobody likes.
• I'm sorry so many people are using your API and not paying. Sounds like you should be talking to them. I don't even use other extensions, why would I care? Don't make this my issue. I've used 2 cents worth of power in my use life.

If I may suggest something, if I were you, I'd bundle several services (addons) and ask for a one time donation; Patreon and small transactions just feed the banks.

I don't know if a cloud company would be amiable to help shoulder the cost in exchange for some clout.

I totally agree - that wasn't intended behaviour. I wanted the changelog\ad to be shown on browser restart, i.e. be much less intrusive.
