Firmware for "fancy" control dial

Hi James, awesome project!

I'm part way through my build (a somewhat gradual process as parts slowly trickle in). I noticed you described two options for the control dial - and while I'm stuck waiting for some of the other parts I need, it just so happens that I already have a bunch of spare 1.28" Waveshare displays, Pi Pico Ws, and ADXL335s sat around left over from previous projects - so it seemed like an obvious upgrade over the basic speed controller variant that I could work on in the meantime.

However, I couldn't find firmware for this anywhere. Is this something you've already shared somewhere - and if not, is that something you'd consider? I could maybe have a go at writing my own if needed, but I'd rather avoid reinventing the wheel if I can - even if it's still in a fairly rough state, having a starting point would be a nice timesaver.

Also - I was wondering if there was a particular advantage to using the Pololu 24v13 motor driver specifically, or if it was just a part you happened to have on hand? It doesn't seem to be available in the UK, so I'd have to import it, and I'm wondering if I can just get away with a much cheaper generic PWM H-Bridge module instead.

You're right, I should share the repo for the firmware as it stands. Give me a mo to see what state it's in and upload it. My plan was to implement a whole UI for controlling the display over bluetooth, but I got distracted by the next shiny thing.

The motor driver was one I happened to have - whatever you can get should be fine.

Ah brilliant! I've got more than a few half-finished projects of my own which I'd hoped to polish more before burdening the world with their jank, that ended up shelved once I had the next idea, so I relate to the instinct - thanks for lowering your standards for me ;)

I got the Waveshare, too. And Pico W. Does the LED dial need a firmware update to work? Or ... any other parts need one?
