Hi, is there a specific reason why this is skipping simple products and only modifying variable products?

We created this plugin to fix the attributes on variable products. It doesn't support any other product type.

However, you can try to run the script after removing the part where we check on the product type class.
You can find that in this file: https://github.com/AppSaloon/woocommerce-switch-attributes-to-global/blob/master/src/transformers/Product_Attributes_Transformer.php#L44

Be cautious with the data, please take a full backup before you run the script!

If you have the time, you can always create a PR to add this feature.

If you want us to build that, we can do that, but it will have a price.
