Is OxiCloud still in active development?

Hi,

I've been intrigued by OxiCloud and wanted to deploy it in my server as a more lightweight replace to the monster that is Nextcloud. However, I see that not a lot of development has been made during these last few months. Is this still being actively developed? If not, that's alright; I just want to know if I should stick with OxiCloud and wait for new releases or wait for another alternative.

I hope it will be maintained. Meanwhile I started a fork here https://github.com/iltumio/OxiCloud

To be totally honest, it's mostly vibe coded due to the lack of time I have.

What I did so far:

• Migrate the webapp from plain js into a svelte app in typescript
• Add UTOIPA to the backend to autogenerate openapi specs
• Integrate openapi-ts on the frontend to autogenerate the api client based on the generated openapi specs
• Migrate the storage to a content-address paradigm (use of IPFS CID as filename, and all the logical structure like actual filenames, directories and metadata in the db)

I hope that something good will come out from my work and eventually become part of the main oxicloud project!

Yes, OxiCloud is actively maintained. The project went through a quieter period, but development picked back up and has been steady since. Just in 2026 alone there have been 70+ commits covering bug fixes, new features, and infrastructure improvements.

Some recent highlights:

• OIDC/SSO login support (configure via admin panel or docker-compose)
• Admin user management (create users manually, disable registration)
• File deduplication with content-addressed blob storage
• Trash, favorites, recent files
• i18n support for 8 languages and growing
• WebDAV and CalDAV/CardDAV support
• Various Docker deployment fixes

@juanjocerero, @roswitina, @AnonAlly -- the project is a good fit if you want something lighter than Nextcloud. Still early compared to Nextcloud's ecosystem, but the core file management, sharing, and auth features work.

@iltumio -- thanks for the fork and for sharing your work. The Svelte migration and the UTOIPA integration are interesting. The content-addressed storage approach is something we already run in parallel here (the .blobs layer with SHA-256 dedup), though the primary storage still uses regular directories for simplicity. If you want to contribute back upstream, PRs are welcome. Happy to discuss any of it.

Development continues. Feel free to open issues or discussions if something is missing or broken.

I can work on both UTOIPA and Svelte if we decide it's a good frontend framework to use.

I implemented the content addressed storage because it was not yet there :) I still need to check your implementation, but as soon as files are only stored once and referenced in different directories, works perfectly for me since it's exactly what I wanted to achieve 💪

Let's make the best alternative to all those legacy self-hosted cloud solutions out there!
