Roadmap for supporting Jakarta Servlet 6.1 and Jackson 3.x in Athenz Java client(Spring Boot 4 compatibility)

With the upcoming release of Spring Boot 4.0, the system requirements are changing significantly. According to the Spring Boot 4.0 Migration Guide, the baseline will shift as follows:

• Jakarta Servlet API: 6.1.0 (to align with Jakarta EE 11)
• Jackson: 3.x

Currently, Athenz's dependencies for the Java client appear to be:

• Servlet API: 6.0 (https://github.com/AthenZ/athenz/blob/v1.12.33/pom.xml#L101)
• Jackson: 2.x (https://github.com/AthenZ/athenz/blob/v1.12.33/pom.xml#L95-L97)

To ensure we can continue using the Athenz Java client with Spring Boot 4 without dependency conflicts, I would like to ask if there are any plans or a roadmap to update these to the required versions.

For those dependencies we track consistency with whatever jetty is using.

Whenever we move to jetty 12.1, if we decide to stick with EE10, then we'll continue using servlet api 6.0. otherwise, if we decide to move to EE11, then we'll move to 6.1
jackson - there are currently no plans to move to 3.x. Jetty 12.1.x also uses jackson 2.x.

I understand that the version upgrades of the two dependencies depend on the Jetty version upgrade.

As an additional question, is there a plan for upgrading the Jetty version? If there is no specific plan, are there any concerns regarding the Jetty version upgrade?

Yes, we do have plans to migrate to 12.1 though it's not a high priority since 12.0 is still supported. So depending on resource availability most likely it might happen in 2H of this year.
