"No JSON object could be decoded"

I am using a MacBook Air with osX 10.13.5, prowsermob-proxy 2.1.4 (python part 0.8.0), selenium 3.13.0, firefox 61.0.1 and python 2.7.10, and trying to run essentially the example given in the README:

from browsermobproxy import Server
server = Server(path="./browsermob-proxy-2.1.4/bin/browsermob-proxy")

server.start()
proxy = server.create_proxy()

from selenium import webdriver
profile  = webdriver.FirefoxProfile()
profile.set_proxy(proxy.selenium_proxy())
driver = webdriver.Firefox(firefox_profile=profile)


proxy.new_har("google")
driver.get("http://www.google.co.uk")
print(proxy.har) # returns a HAR JSON blob

server.stop()
driver.quit()

However, printing the proxy.har does not see to work. I get the following error

Maybe this is a bug on the python implementation?
