Like button: not working by default on in-app browsers on iPhone & Brave browser

Hi Jetpack mechanics, just wanted to give a heads up about the Like button in Brave. There's probably not much that can be done. It's likely because of the cross site scripts that Brave disables because if I go to https://wordpress.com/read, even with Brave shields on, I can click the star button on the articles and the like is applied correctly.

Steps to reproduce the issue

1. Using the Brave browser, go to https://elio.blog/5-free-styles-for-capture-one/
2. Click the Like button at the end of the article
3. a popup shows up briefly and the like is not applied
4. disable Brave shields in the site
5. once the page reloads, click the Like button again. This time the like is applied

What I expected

The Like to be applied.

What happened instead

A popup shows briefly, and the Like is not applied.

I can reproduce this inside any in-app web browser on iPhone while logged out

• Inside Pocket
• Inside Slack
• Inside the WordPress app

This was reported by a WPcom customer in a ticket and reproduced by 3 Happiness Engineers using both Chrome and Safari on iOS devices using test Atomic sites.
First test on iPhone Xs, Safari, iOS v14.1

Edited to add: This issue was replicated while logged into the WordPress.com account.

Hi @eliorivero! I'm going to reopen this bug, as we are still getting reports of it. If you think it should be re-closed, can you add your reasoning here? I'm wondering if there is something we are missing? Thanks!

Two reasons:

1- It's unlikely it's going to be fixed like for example Automattic/wp-calypso#796 or #259

2- what Artur and Melissa reported are different issues than the original issue I reported. Their issue happens when and because the user is logged out. It doesn't have anything to do with what I reported where user is logged in but cross site scripts are blocked.

Anyway, I'll unsubscribe myself. Don't @ me again so I'm not subscribed again.

I also have a report on another site (Atomic). When I try to Like a post on Safari on iOS (iPhone 12 Pro Max - iOS 14.2), a new tab is open and closed instantly:

I landed here while searching for a solution to this problem which is reproing consistently on my wife's wordpress.com site. https://hungryginger.com/2021/01/02/a-culinary-goal-for-2021/ Browsing to a post on iOS 14.2 Safari and clicking the Like button briefly pops open a new tab which immediately closes and does not register the like. The like button works perfectly on Windows 10 with Chrome.
