Feature Request: create ability to add ‘follow’ button anywhere in Wordpress site.

The follow button is great

Is there any way we could be allowed to trigger the modal (via perhaps a custom class) so we could add a follow link anywhere on site and not just within posts or pages?

E.g. on https://nham.co.uk I have a Mastodon icon in the header that when clicked I’d love to be able to give the user the option to follow in the same manner as they can thanks to the AP plugin at the bottom of this post: https://nham.co.uk/2025/02/welcome-to-nham/

Something like a href="fediverse_handle" class="show-fediverse-follow-modal"?

Why

So we can encourage more people to follow via the Fedi.

Hi there!

In block themes you're able to insert the block in any template or template part, it's not limited to post or pages.
For classic themes it's possible to insert in any widget area, using the block based widget editor.

To your case specifically: There's a PR in progress that adds a button-only mode, which you should be able to repurpose by manually adding the HTML where you want it. You'll need to keep another instance of the block in the footer for example to make sure the necessary scripts get enqueued, but I was able to make that work locally in a custom menu item.

For now I managed a workaround by putting a css hidden version of the block in the footer site-wide and including this script:
