Handle keys with different keyboard layouts

Describe the bug
I'm using the french keyboard layout and when I try to use certain keybinds like switch workspace it doesn't work because the numbers are replaced by &é ... =
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. setxkbmap fr
2. Try to switch workspace
   Expected behavior
   Switch workspace when pressing modm + number

Just wondering if I missed the place to modify these keybinds or if just isn't possible.

I have the same problem with Czech layout. I was not able to fix it so I made another keybindings with arrows to switch between workspaces.
