Azure AI Agents | Reasoning Summary Events

The AsyncEventHandler and StreamEvents do not have types for Reasoning summaries. These work in the Responses API but no Azure AI Agents/Assistants API. Will this event type be added?

Azure AI Agent streaming should emit Reasoning summary start/delta/end events.

• The current SDK behavior for streaming events is to produce generic event types via the default event handler (AgentEventHandler or AsyncAgentEventHandler). See default event handler example.
• You can override the base event handler to handle or parse additional events—including custom types like reasoning summaries—if they’re present in the raw event stream. For an example, please refer to override base event handler sample.
• While the Responses API supports reasoning summary events, the Azure AI Agents/Assistants API currently does not provide explicit reasoning summary event types. You can check for unhandled events in your custom handler to implement any desired parsing.
