Following a discussion with @PolarBean: despite warnings users still send many saturated images to DeepSlice network.
Idea: automatically rescale 16 bit images (maybe also 8-bits?) to 1% / 99% cutoff in the histogram. Probably the histogram has to be computed for all slices combined. Maybe manage to show an overview of the images (and making sure this doesn't break headless processing).
An opt-in options would be to avoid autoscale and use the user define settings, but the default would be to autoscale.
