Hey,
I tried your code obdtest.py
But I get the error above.
screen /dev/rfcomm0
and manual input everything works but somehow your code throws this error.
Anyone the same problem?

Thank you for your report. The obdtest.py was originally intended to be used for debugging purposes. I am willing to support it nevertheless since it might be a useful basis for beginners that do not want to install the full can4eve software.

Please let me know more about the environment in which you try things out.
I assume your are in the context of http://can4eve.bitplan.com/index.php/OBDLink_LX and you have questions about how to proceeed. Please first try out the minicom connection before proceeding to use the Python version. Only if you can access the OBD device via AT commands on the given linux device will you have any chance to get the python script working.

thx for your answer. I am using a raspberry pi with stretch installed.
The connector is OBDLink LX and the Car is an I-MieV
I use
sudo rfcomm bind rfcomm0 00:04:3E:XX:XX:XX
to create the serial port.
With
screen /dev/rfcomm0
i can manually send AT commands and get the relevant data from my car. That works perfectely. But I have to do that manually. I would like to use your script to let those commands run in a batch to get the data I want in one single script and NOT typing every AT command after another.
Unfortunately your script raises that error.
