No ringing while in DND and app is whitelisted

1. Describe the bug (mandatory)

When the phone is in DND mode and Linphone is granted permission to interrupt (apps settings), it still doesn't ring for incoming calls.

Also, if applicable, do you reproduce it with linphone-android latest release from the Play Store?

Yeas, should be latest: 6.0.2

2. To Reproduce (mandatory)

Open DND settings on Android:
Tap on "App" (which can interrupt dnd) and add Linphone
Activate DND
Make a phone call to your VoIP number on Linphone
Phone doesn't ring

3. Expected behavior (mandatory)

Phone should ring if Linphone app is whitelisted in DND settings

4. Please complete the following information (mandatory)

• Device: [Motorola G54 5G]
• OS: [Android 15]
• Version of the App [6.02]
• Version of the SDK [e.g 5.4.5]
• Where you did got it from (Play Store, Beta)

5. SDK logs (mandatory)

I have uploaded logs but there are private info, so I'm not attaching the link here. Please don't share them.

8. Additional context (optionnal)

I just tried to call myself again, while in dnd, but keeping the screen on and linphone showed a window to accept/refuse the call.. still no sound to be heard.

Indeed we currently don't support that feature, we only have added the favorite contact whitelisting for DND.
I'll try to add it for next release.

I just tried with favorite contacts and it actually rings, but the screen doesn't light up and there is no interface to accept the call.
Moreover, I'm not sure why it only rings with favorite contacts but not with "all". I have linphone app whitelisted and also all phone contacts allowed to call, but this way the phone doesn't ring at all... Think we got a bug in a bug ;-)

Because currently we only check that: https://developer.android.com/reference/android/app/NotificationManager.Policy#PRIORITY_SENDERS_STARRED.
There is also a PRIORITY_SENDERS_CONTACTS but up until now we didn't use it, this I can add easily.

Ehe, yeah, I don't know about the code :) Thought you didn't find any option like that on your development device

I couldn't find a way to get the whitelisted packages list, but I've improved the list of DnD rules we support : starred friends (was already there), existing contacts, all calls & applications in call category.
It's all in liblinphone's commit ID 0d3f69d22ffee0990cb96a98856aded9f7edab23, will be released in 6.1.0 (the change is a bit complex to cherry-pick in 5.4 SDK for 6.0.X release).

I can't use linphone really in the current state as I get way too many notifications by all the other apps with DND disabled. Great that the fix is already on the way! Is the release date for 6.1 fixed yet? I'd love it!

No 6.1.0 release date isn't set yet but the fix is already in the 6.1.0-alpha, you can grab a nightly build from our snapshots: https://download.linphone.org/snapshots/android/
