I had no clue where to even begin with this device and Espressif wasn't exactly helpful in giving pointers. I mean loading demo firmware really doesn't tell me anything. All i wanted was to replace my Echo Show with something local and configurable. A bedside clock with the ability to voice control a few Home Assistant entities. I got that in spades and then some. It provided me a starting point to learn more about the device, and YAML, and ESPHome, and i am grateful for this as well. And the dude says he "is not a developer"? Respect. I'm not either, and i couldn't for the life of me even get the display to light up with ESPHome. Now i've got exactly what i set out wanting, and also a framework for all the stuff i didn't know i wanted. I could go on coz i'm so tickled. Sincere thanks to the not-developer.
Now the only concern i have is that using 12-hr format, the only times of day my clock display is centered and symmetrical are the hours between 10:00 and 12:59 when there's four digits. The rest of the time it's right justified and this upsets my sensibilities. All the documentation i can find says this...
%I:%M%p...should pad the display with a zero. It doesn't, so might someone pls tell me why not?Beta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.
