Fire impacts on faunal communities and their relationship with land cover

This repository contains the code for investigating how fire affects occupancy and activity (a potential measure of relative abundance) within different habitats. Acoustic detections have already been combined with land cover and proteced area data, but this repository includes scripts needed to encorporate fire data. Analyses are undertaken using multi-species Bayesian models via the 'spOccupancy' and 'spAbundance' R packages. This analysis was performed using R (version 4.4.1).

Taxa studied are bats 🦇, small mammals 🐭, bush-crickets/moths 🦗, and birds 🐦

Repository structure:

  • 📁 data/ — Acoustic detection counts and environmental covariates
  • 📁 code/ — R scripts for GLMM/Occupancy modeling and data cleaning. Model code for specific taxa are found in the relevant sub-directories.
  • 📁 results/ — Statistical summaries and plots.
