A problem of octree refine using bucket_size only

I have a 3D-matrix-like point cloud which every point in it has same distance in all axis.
I try to split space for managing it using octree with a refine() input CGAL::Orthtrees::Maximum_number_of_inliers(1). But finally I find that there are many nodes in octree has not only one point in it. Does I have something wrong of refine()?
The version of CGAL is 5.6.1.

Hi,
I checked the code with your data and it the code seems correct. Every leaf node has 0 or 1 point inside. However, the parent nodes can have more than 8 points. This just means, that not all of their child nodes are leaf nodes.

In CGAL 5.6, the octree subdivides the cubic bounding box of the input data. Every node has a cubic bounding box. From CGAL 6.0, the octree can subdivide non-cubic spaces and nodes can have non-cubic bounding boxes. As your input data is not a grid with 2^n points evenly spaced along each axis, the leaf nodes are not all at the same depth in the tree.

Thank you for your reply. I realize that my previous understanding of the octree was incorrect. I will focus on reviewing the sections pertaining to non-cubic spaces and node design in version 6.0+ :-)
