Retrieving article contents by category and date range

First of all, thank you for implementing such an awesome MCP server.
I have a question: is it possible to retrieve news articles from a specific category within a certain date range?

For instance, if I want to do something like: “Show 20 articles contents in the Technology category published between April 2, 2025 and April 7, 2025,” how should I phrase the instruction?

i dont think this can be achieved... but can be partly done perhaps with the sort function that SerpAPI has-- @ChanMeng666 does this MCP have the ability to date sort?

Thank you for your interest in the Google News MCP Server project and for your question about retrieving news articles from specific categories within date ranges. @BM-K @sebkernel

Currently, the server doesn't directly support date range filtering for category-specific searches. While SerpAPI (which our server uses) does support this functionality through their tbs parameter, we haven't implemented this parameter in our MCP server interface yet.

The server currently:

• Allows searching by keywords
• Supports category filtering through topic tokens
• Automatically categorizes results based on content analysis

However, explicit date range filtering for categories is not currently exposed in our API.

We welcome contributions to add this feature! It would involve modifying the input schema in src/index.ts to accept date parameters and updating the request handling to properly format the SerpAPI calls with the appropriate tbs parameter.
