# Quick Start Guide for Multi-Verifier Milestone Approval System

## Prerequisites
- Node.js 18+
- PostgreSQL 12+
- Git

## Installation

### 1. Install Dependencies
```bash
npm install
```

### 2. Setup Database
```bash
# Run migrations (includes multi-verifier support)
npm run migrate:latest

# Verify migration status
npm run migrate:status
```

### 3. Run Tests

## Testing the Implementation

### POST /api/vaults/:vaultId/milestones/:id/approve

Record a verifier's approval or rejection.

**Request Headers:**
- `Authorization: Bearer <verifier-token>`

**Error Responses:**
- `400 Bad Request` - Invalid approvalStatus
- `404 Not Found` - Vault or milestone not found
- `409 Conflict` - Verifier already voted (duplicate prevention)

Get approval progress for a milestone.

## Troubleshooting

### Tests Failing

**Problem**: Tests report database connection errors

**Solution**:

### Duplicate Vote Not Prevented

**Problem**: Second vote accepted instead of rejected

**Cause**: Unique constraint not enforced or migration not run

**Solution**:

### API Returns 500 Error

**Problem**: Internal server error on approval submission

**Solution**:
1. Check server logs for error details
2. Verify verifier exists in `verifiers` table
3. Verify milestone exists in `milestones` table
4. Verify vault ID matches milestone's vault_id

## Performance Tuning

### Query Optimization

### Scaling Considerations

- Index creation cost: ~50ms per 1M rows
- Threshold checking: O(1) after index creation
- Approval recording: O(1) with constraint
- Batch operations: Consider transactions for multiple votes
