Hpool had to put an emergency update to handle the new problem of 5sec latency for plot-test, essentially the block-chain now demands 5 seconds for plot-validation, it used to be quite higher.
What this means is that you can no longer use slow HDD's to mine, you can no longer use Network drives of any kind.

Of course this demand is also hitting the solo-miners in the chia-western world with timeouts,where the IP drops you if you take longer than 5 seconds to validate a plot. So it goes both ways

Might even say if its not broken, don't fix it, for chia its more like this break stuff, and up the bar for the miners,

On one side of the paid liars mouth they say 'you can use old use hw to mine chia', then if you do that you suddenly find out you can't mine, and collect xch, even if you won that lotto ticket, cuz you can't prove in time its yours

IMHO its simple the morons at chia-dev are trying to reduce the amount of xch collected in china by hpool, but they already have +51% of space, so what they got is fair, but certainly they thought this would break the back of hpool

Well the HPOOL have come out with an update that essentially says CHIA-NET has upped the bar, and we suggest you upgrade your HW asap, think about this, so they will do it, which means the hpool/china gets more XCH and even less in the west.

This is what gringos used to call "Cutting off your nose to spite your face", or "Cutting off your chia, to spite hpool"
