Has CEC Support Been Implimented Yet? CEC Not Working with Pulse-Eight Adapter on ChimeraOS – Logs Needed?

Hi all,

Has CEC been fully implemented in ChimeraOS at this point?

I'm trying to get CEC working using the Pulse-Eight USB HDMI CEC adapter, but it's currently not functioning with my ChimeraOS install.

I saw that issue 358 requested support for CEC, and at the bottom of the thread this comment seems to think that the issue is a dupe of this issue which has been marked as closed. However, despite this, I'm not seeing any working CEC functionality on my setup.

it looks like, according to issue 358, that the required library can be found in arch package.

Im making a new github issue as the previous ones seemed stale and loop around a little bit with no real indictation of whether the required libraries are included yet.

my questions are:

• Is there a way I can provide logs to help confirm whether CEC is functioning as intended or to help diagnose what might be going wrong?
• can we get a status update for CEC library support for example is there a timeline for adding CEC libraries if this has not been added already?

as per suggestion from alkazar on discord i tried to test the install of the libraries myself before he adds the libraries seeing as i have the device. i tried the install with the following;

• sudo frzr-unlock
• sudo pacman -Sy
• sudo pacman -S libcec
• which cec-client
• then enter the following;

• sudo udevadm control --reload
• sudo udevadm trigger

however the application of permissions doesnt seem to be the right method to allow use of the usb device. alkazar also thinks that a script is needed to send the CEC message at boot. im not sure about this however as i assume the usb device itself is that signal.

ls -l /dev/ttyACM0 shows the read and write of the usb device is crw-rw---- 1 root instead of crw-rw-rw- 1 root root ...

ive not been able to get past the permissions error, which propogates as;

I have seen that bazzite is mentioned in the original chimeraos issue thread here and they included the libraries with success (i tested with a bazzite install)

maybe a test branch could be created with the correct libraries added that i could help test with? without help on the install for the drivers at this stage there isnt much more i can do.

This seems really interesting and using ChimeraOS with CEC was one of my ideas as well.
I successfully tested it with an UDOO X86 and works out-of-the-box as it has a in-kernel driver.

I've tested Remote Commands successfully, being able to navigate the Steam UI with the remote control.
Would be interesting to use cec-client by default to enable Suspend Commands when goes into suspend and Active Source Commands when it resumes.

I have to test it as I don't remember if the libcec Arch Linux package has the CEC Kernel Framework enabled by default.

EDIT: I've tested it successfully with the commands you posted, the support is working, but I was remembering wrong about cec-client. You need to implement the CEC logic in ChimeraOS like the author did in #428 or in ublue-os/bazzite#412.

Would be also nice to remap the "OK" remote command to something like "Enter" , as it is not interpreted.
