Physical display continously trying to reconnect to pc when using virtual display

As the title says, whenever I try to stream using just the virtual display and my main display disconnected, my main display initially goes into standby mode but after a couple of seconds wakes back up and tries to connect back to the pc, causing hitches while streaming. Any ideas on how to solve this? I tried reinstalling windows and making sure my graphic drivers were up to date but none of that solved it.

PC Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x3d
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070
Monitor: AW3225QF

This is a display's specific behavior and it can't be fixed despite powering it off physically. Some controllers in the monitors behave dumb and they're really pains in the ass. One of my monitor wakes the computer up once it goes to sleep, and the woken up computer then wakes the just slept monitor back online......

I've read that this happens more frequently recent years as OLED displays are getting popular, and there're things called "Deep Pixel Refresh" on these display panels. Some monitors may briefly disconnect themselves during the refresh.

Yep, even if I disable it in device manager, if that LG monitor is plugged in my computer hitches every couple seconds.

Chiming in to see if there's a known fix or workaround. I seem to be encountering this as well with an LG UW display. Unplugging it seemed to work but that's obviously a PITA. Anyone happen to know of alternatives?

The same thing happens to me because I have two monitors, and it's impossible to play with Virtual Display.

this is indeed my problem. i have 3 monitors, two of them being by Acer, and all three of them had auto detect on, but the two from Acer even after turning it off they still try to get signal from windows. They can switch sources to a empty slot manually by pressing some buttons and this make the windows stop trying to detect them, but it's too much work... i think an easier workaround than fiddling with settings on two monitors every time would be to have a power strip with a switch to turn it off and connect the monitors there

I will simply have every monitor enabled for now as it works for me

turn off “input auto switch” on your OSD settings does the job!
