Some way to disable certificate expiration (validUntil) enforcement

Maybe I am just not finding it in the documentation but is there some way to disable the enforcement of certificate expiration? From what I can tell the SAML2 specification doesn't actually state that the dates or really any metadata within certificates needs to be enforced.
