ExternalObject linter error

Within the ExternalObject, the input variable is being used, but the linter says that the verbose variable is not being used.

(sorry for blocking majority the of code...trying to be compliant with company rules)

We are working on a new restructuring to mimic the rust compiler. Once the vscode extension is adapted to this new structure, I'll make sure to double check that issues like this are caught.
