Fix BroadCast File Transfer

• Currently when a file is broadcasted some packets get dropped because of using UDP
• Comeup with a better way to broadcast the file or fix the UDP issue

Find a New way to broadcast files ( other than UDP )

OR

Fix the UDP file transfer by adding Acknowledgments

@lokesh-wagh sir, so currently the code uses UDP for both broadcast and transfer, which might lead to packet drop or maybe file missing issues, because of the connectionless behaviour of UDP, right?

A simple fix would be increasing

public static int broadCastCountDefault = 1; //anybody that misses the beacon would miss the file transfer

But this will only ensure that the broadcast beacon is received, but it won't ensure file transfer without corruption

UDP with ACK can be implemented, but I feel like this will make the system Slow?

Any suggestions on what else can be done, sir?

the actual problem is that peers might miss some chunks and that corrupts the file

a normal tcp based connection would have 1 data and 1 ack packet per connection ( 50 peers : 50 data 50 acks )

a udp based connection might transfer 1 data packet to all peers then get ( 50 peers : 1 data 50 acks )

something like this could be done for now

if there are any better alternatives i would love to hear them

My take on this is I have an Acknowlegment system(NACK) that checks weather all the packets have arrived or not If now the system says if the these are packet[Sequ Number] are not present and again retransmit those missing packets
