Anything else one can do with 'Maps'?

Hi,
Is there anything else besides viewing, zooming etc. that one can do with the 'Maps' interface? I have downloaded the world.pmtile and that works fine, but there's no interface that I see where one could set for instance the starting viewpoint or a search for a location. Isn't that possible with the maps Nomad is using or is this a potential for future code development?

It would be great if there were options to upload shape files or make POIs with notes / catagories.
