have to add app to accessibility settings

Not sure if this is a specific setting on my machine but thought it might be worth mentioning in the set up steps if other users encounter this. If I download the app and attempt opening it, no permissions popup shows up. If I look at the logs, I see this:

2025-08-02 13:32:47.979134-0400  localhost tccd[372]: [com.apple.TCC:access] TCCDProcess: identifier=br.com.damascenorafael.reminders-menubar, pid=2899, auid=501, euid=501, binary_path=/Applications/Reminders MenuBar.app/Contents/MacOS/Reminders MenuBar attempted to call TCCAccessRequest for kTCCServiceAccessibility without the recommended com.apple.private.tcc.manager.check-by-audit-token entitlement

Which indicates that it needs to be added as an approved app in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility first before it can prompt the user for access to Reminders. It doesn't show up as an app that requests it, you just have to search it up and add it. Once I did that and restarted my computer it worked.

Hey @AJCubed, thanks for taking a look at this.
Could you please tell me which version of macOS you are running?
Also, do you know if this happens both when downloading the app directly and when installing via brew?

On my mac I don't see Reminders MenuBar listed in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility.

I will investigate to see if I can find more details about this possible missing entitlement.

I'm running Sonoma 14.2.1 on an M2 Macbook Air.

I wasn't able to get the app running with the direct download or brew, but my final successful attempt was with the direct download.

The app isn't listed in Accessibility (I'm assuming because it doesn't request Accessibility permissions), you have to hit the "+" and search for it manually. Once you find the app and click it it'll show up as one of the permitted apps.

I retrieved the logs with the log stream command filtered specifically as log stream --predicate 'eventMessage contains "TCC"' --style syslog, but you can probably find a more precise filter.

Again, I'm not sure if this is reproducible though.
