Starlabs notebooks and battery life

It would be interesting to see what starlabs coreboot version have that makes the battery last much longer than Dasharo's. I have a novacustom NV41 and the battery compared to a starlabs laptop, even considering that the starlabs has a more powerful battery, proportionally it lasts much longer. As both are open source, maybe there's something that could be copied.

Which models exactly? Depending on a model, the comparison may or may not be apple to apple. Starlabs Lite notebooks are Gemini Lake laptops which are definitely more power-saving CPUs than any NovaCustom laptop is equipped with. Gemini Lake is more like an embedded segment processor rather than client mobile segment.

The starlabs has a smaller battery in this case and the battery lasts twice the time. The CPU looks like the same one.

Is this statement a result of testing or comparing specification?

I assume this may differ a lot depending on how you test things.

NovaCustom has at least some definition of how it's measured:

• Battery life: 420 minutes (7 hours)*

– *This battery life indication is a realistic value based on a mix of light tasks in Windows 11 such as web surfing and watching videos. This was tested with WiFi enabled, Bluetooth disabled, the screen brightness level at 50% and the keyboard backlight enabled at the lowest brightness level. The battery life indication is highly dependent on the intensity of the laptop use and the health of the battery. Therefore, no rights can be derived from this value.

I have two devices of both manufacturers with 12Th gen intel i7, both running debian and the battery life difference is massive. And both batteries have the hours very similar to what both manufacters claim.

My NV41 running dasharo also eats battery while on suspend L3 mode, while the starlabs is like 2% on a week. The NV41 after around a fews days it gets empty on L3 state, unless it's shutdown then it holds the battery levels as before.
