Investigate astropy resampling #10
Description
Per issue #3 we want to move away from external dependencies, such as the astromatic swarp tool currently used from image resampling and combination.
I need to actually do a side-by-side comparison between swarp and the methods already present in astropy. The resampling methods may not be as good as Lanczos method in swarp, but we need a quantitative comparison.
Other important capabilities that swarp is less than great at are:
- Generation of effective coverage/exposure maps.
- Resampling over gaps/bad pixels.
