Having trouble with workshop items in AppID: 34270

Hi everybody!

I'm having trouble getting workshop items to work in SEGA Mega Drive & Genesis Classics (AppID: 34270). I’ve tested multiple mods, but none of them show up in the game. I also tried different mods.json configurations, but without success.

It might have something to do with UGCRequest, but i honestly don't know what i'm talking about. I hope someone more knowledgeable can help me.

Still doesn't work unfortunately, but it now gets to Steam_UGC::GetItemInstallInfo. Here is a full log: STEAM_LOG_973382011.log

According to the log I have currently not spotted other emu errors other than the one fixed above. Maybe try a more detailed mods.json like this one?

BTW, I have already seen some other games requiring specific settings or their UGCs cannot be used, like some games hardcode the UGC paths to the real steam ones, or some games don't list UGCs that have no preview files/urls. You can also have some tests if the json file uploaded does not work.

I tried your mods.json, but it still doesn't work. I also tried matching every setting in mods.json one-to-one with a steam client, including the path to the mod, but that didn’t help either.

While testing, I discovered that you have to choose a game volume when creating a Workshop item.

And in the logs it looks like this:

It specifies which game (or more accurately, which DLC) the mod is for.

But you can’t set item metadata in mods.json, can you? So maybe that’s the problem.

I've tested with hardcoded pchMetadata = "Gunstar Heroes" in steam_ugc.cpp and it works now, so it must be it.

That's very interesting, thanks for testing. First game I've ever seen to request this info for UGCs. Anyways, please test the updated #249 with the new "metadata" key to see if it works.
