Description
Stylus touch input registers the initial touch/click but does not recognize continuous drag for drawing. Mouse input works perfectly.
Steps to Reproduce
- Connect a touchscreen portable monitor (ViewSonic TD1655 with capacitive stylus)
- Launch DrawPen on Windows
- Use stylus to touch screen - initial touch registers
- Try to drag stylus across screen to draw - drag is not recognized
- Switch to mouse - drag works perfectly
Expected Behavior
Stylus should draw continuous lines when dragging across the screen, similar to mouse behavior.
Actual Behavior
- Initial stylus touch: ✅ Works (registers as click)
- Stylus drag: ❌ Does not work (no continuous drawing)
- Mouse drag: ✅ Works perfectly
Additional Context
- The stylus drag works correctly in other Windows applications (MS Paint, OneNote, Windows Whiteboard)
- The monitor's touch functionality works for clicking/tapping throughout Windows
- This appears to be specifically a touch drag event recognition issue in DrawPen
- The ViewSonic TD1655 uses standard Windows touch protocols (10-point capacitive touch)
Environment
Operating System:
- OS Name: Microsoft Windows 11 Pro
- OS Version: 10.0.26100 Build 26100
DrawPen Version:
v0.0.34 (installed via Windows installer). I don't see where I can actually see the version, but I downloaded and installed only an hour ago and the repo states v0.0.34 as of 4 days ago.
Hardware:
- Primary Display: Latitude 5550
- Secondary Display: ViewSonic TD1655 (15.6" USB-C portable touchscreen monitor)
- Input Device: ViewSonic TD1655 capacitive touchscreen with included passive stylus
- Stylus: ViewSonic passive capacitive stylus (included with TD1655)
Installation Method:
Windows icon on the home page the subsequent DrawPen.Setup.exe downloaded setup file.
Workaround
Currently using mouse input instead of stylus.
