Smoothing the curve together with animation gives inappropriate behavior – it is not the movement to the left that is animated, but the change in values.
Current vs. Expected behavior
It would be possible to simply turn off the animation or remove smoothing (the latter option is more honest, since the option in which the peaks are stronger than they actually are is impossible).
